Diabetes – a chronic disease that affects your metabolism. It occurs when you produce too little or no insulin––a hormone that shuttles sugar from your blood into your cells for energy or storage––or your body improperly uses what insulin it does produce. This causes your blood levels of insulin to be too high, resulting in damage to blood vessels and internal organs.
There are 3 main types of diabetes — Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational diabetes.
- Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition that occurs when your body attacks and destroys the cells in your pancreas that produce insulin. Usually diagnosed in childhood or early adulthood, it requires daily insulin injections.
- With Type 2 diabetes, the body either doesn’t produce enough insulin, or it resists insulin.
- Gestational diabetes occurs during pregnancy and resolves after you give birth. Having gestational diabetes increases your risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life.
- Prediabetes a condition in which blood sugar is high, but not high enough to be type 2 diabetes.
Hypertension – is another name for high blood pressure. It is a condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high. High blood pressure often has no symptoms. Over time, if untreated, it can cause health conditions, such as heart disease and stroke. Eating a healthier diet with less salt, exercising regularly, and taking medications can help lower blood pressure.
Other Common Conditions we help treat:
- Arthritis – is the swelling and tenderness of one or more of your joints.
- Anxiety disorder – A mental health disorder characterized by feelings of worry, anxiety, or fear.
- Common Illnesses
- Edema – Puffiness caused by excess fluid trapped in the body’s tissues.
- Gait and Mobility – walking problems.
- High-Low cholesterol –High: High amounts of cholesterol in the blood. Low: levels can have healthy hearts. Overall, though, people who have low HDL cholesterol will have greater risk of developing heart disease than people with high HDL levels.
- Muscle Weakness – is a lack of muscle strength.
- Palpitation – A sensation that the heart is racing, pounding, fluttering, or skipping a beat.
- Sleep apnea and hypertension – A potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts.
- Thyroid disorders – abnormal production of thyroid hormones. Thyroid disorders can range from a small, harmless goiter (enlarged gland) that needs no treatment to life-threatening cancer.
- Weight management – is the process of adopting long-term lifestyle modification to maintain a healthy body weight.
